TITLE: Vaccine Promotion for the Nursing Profession

Purpose of the Study: The purpose of this project is twofold: 1) to assess the knowledge, attitudes, beliefs, and perceptions (“needs”) of nursing faculty, nursing students, and practicing nurses across North Dakota and 2) based on the assessment, develop evidence-based strategies to increase vaccine knowledge, increase pro-vaccine attitudes and beliefs within all levels of the nursing profession.
This survey is being conducted by Dr. Abigail Burkett Vetter, Assistant Professor of Nursing at North Dakota State University (NDSU), along with Nicole Hatzenbuhler, Assistant Professor of Nursing at North Dakota State University, Dr. Mary Larson, Associate Professor of Public Health at North Dakota State University, Dr. Sharon Nelson, Assistant Professor of Nursing at North Dakota State University, and Kaitlin Schmitz, Lecturer at North Dakota State University, on behalf of the NDSU Center for Immunization Research and Education (CIRE). The survey was approved by the Institutional Review Board at NDSU.
Procedures: You are being invited to participate in this survey because you are a licensed nurse in North Dakota or you are a nursing student attending a nursing program in North Dakota. Participation in this survey is voluntary. If you agree to participate, we ask that you complete this survey anonymously. The survey should take you approximately 10-15 minutes to complete.
Risks: Your participation does not involve any known physical or psychological risks to you. If you do not wish to answer a question, you may skip it and go to the next question. You have the option to go back and change an answer at any time during the survey. You have the option to withdraw at any time.
Benefits: There is no direct benefit to you for participating in this survey; however, your participation will help the NDSU Center for Immunization Research and Education (CIRE) develop, implement, and evaluate strategies to improve knowledge, confidence, behaviors, and systems related to recommendations for routine vaccinations that will be available to all nurses and nursing students in North Dakota.
Statement of Confidentiality: Your responses are anonymous. All data will be stored in a password-protected electronic format and kept private. We will not share information that makes it possible to identify any individual. All data will be shared in aggregate form. Access to data will be limited to the project staff.
